DHARAMSHALA, India, 15 May 2008 (ANI) — As the world turns its focus to China for the 2008 Olympics, Tibetan exiles unable to travel to Beijing will be holding the Tibetan Olympics in the northern Indian town of Dharamsala, the Dala Lama's headquarters.
"We have created this event to ensure that Tibetans can be included in the spirit of the year during the time of the biggest global sporting event held in Beijing," head of the organising committee Lobsang Wangyal said.
The Olympics will run for 10 days and include 10 sports including swimming, long distance running, shooting and archery. Winners will be rewarded in rupees.
