PAIA, Hawaii, 23 March 2008 — The Maui Dharma Center and The Tibetan Community of Maui announces the "Tibetan Olympics Torch Relay: A Peace March For Human Rights in Tibet and Around the World" which will take place on Sunday, 23 March 2008.
The Peace March will commence at 11:00 a.m. at the Maui Dharma Center in Paia and proceed through Paia Town, down Baldwin Avenue and Hana Hwy., and end at Baldwin Beach Park.
The Tibetan Olympics, which will be held in Dharamshala, India, from 15 to 25 May, and before the world games in Beijing this summer, is an initiative to offer a platform for the Tibetans to speak out and bring world attention and awareness to China's continuing abuse of the Tibetan Nation and the denial of Human Rights to her people.
The Tibetan Olympics Torch, a symbol of world-wide unity, is on Maui, having just arrived from Japan, and will be carried on March 23, 2008 from the Maui Dharma Center to Baldwin Beach Park in a gesture of bringing peace and freedom to Tibet, the Tibetans, and all oppressed peoples around the world. The Torch will travel next to the mainland, Europe, Africa and the Middle East before returning to India.
The community is invited to participate in this unique demonstration of peace for the right to freedom for Tibet and all who are deprived of it.
The Peace March will begin promptly at 11:00 AM,
