  • Tibetan Olympics kicks off
    — Two years of planning and one year of work for the Tibetan Olympics are coming into fruition. We are proud to present fifteen men and nine women. They have come from different parts of India. Many of them have come from Tibet in the past few years. These are all students.
    Tibetan Olympics is not being held to counter the Beijing Olympics. It is an initiative to let Tibetans join in the celebration of the spirit of the biggest international sports event.
  • Tibetan Olympics torch relay, Cape Town leg
    — The leaders of four of South Africa's largest church groups have issued strong statements of support for the Tibetan people, calling for a restoration of human rights in Tibet, and for negotiations between the People's Republic of China and the Dalai Lama. Statements have so far been issued by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu (Anglican Church), Cardinal Wilfrid Napier (Roman Catholic Church), Dr Kobus Gerber (General Secretary of the Dutch Reformed Church) and Bishop Paul Verreyne (Methodist Church of Southern Africa).
  • Tibetan Olympics torch relay, London leg
    — The London leg of the Tibetan Olympics torch relay will pass through the Chinese Embassy and Westminster Bridge. The relay is a prelude to the Tibetan Olympics 2008, which will be held from 15 to 25 May in Dharamshala, India. read

    — Amigos estamos recebendo a Tocha Olimpica Tibetana no Rio de Janeiro neste fim de semana, chegou de Nova York irá pra Londres nesta segunda...Haverá uma olimpíada em Dharamsala onde está a sede do governo do Tibet no Exílio, dos dias 15 a 25 de maio. Esta olimpíada tem como objetivo dar direito aos jovens Tibetanos que foram excluídos das Olimpíadas de Beijing, de compartilhar o espírito olímpico. read

    — Organisers of the Tibetan Olympics insist that their message is not against holding the Olympics in China. Instead, they would like to see peace and stability in China to allow the 2008 Olympics to be a success. The Tibetan Olympics torch relay in New York City is a part of the Tibetan Olympics 2008, to be held in Dharamshala from May 15-25. The Tibetan Olympics consists of ten sporting events attempted by each individual, competing for men and women's championships. read

    — As the world prepares for the Beijing Olympics in August 2008, Tibetans will be left out: Because their country has been occupied by China. China has been awarded the honour of hosting the 2008 world Olympics, on the condition that China would improve the conduct of its regime, so as to live by the spirit of the Olympics. The recent beatings and killings by Chinese security forces of peaceful monks and laypeople demonstrating for greater freedom, the return of the Dalai Lama, and the creation of a free Tibet, shows that China still faces many challenges in the support of human rights and justice. read

    A Peace March For Human Rights in Tibet and Around the World

    — The Maui Dharma Center and The Tibetan Community of Maui announces the "Tibetan Olympics Torch Relay: A Peace March For Human Rights in Tibet and Around the World" which will take place on Sunday, 23 March 2008. The Tibetan Olympics, which will be held in Dharamshala, India, from 15 to 25 May, and before the world games in Beijing this summer, is an initiative to offer a platform for the Tibetans to speak out and bring world attention and awareness to China's continuing abuse of the Tibetan Nation and the denial of Human Rights to her people. read

  • 10 March 2008: Tibetan Olympics torch makes its mark in McLeod
    — The fourth leg of the Tibetan Olympics Torch Relay March will be a part of the 49th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day. The torch will be lit at the Tsug La Khang (Main Temple) after the official function of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile. read
  • 24 February 2008: Taipei leg of Tibetan Olympics torch relay
    — The Tibetans in Taipei, in collaboration with the Taiwanese Friends of Tibet, are organizing on Sunday, 24 February, a symbolic Tibetan Olympic torch relay in front of the Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall. The Taipei leg of the Tibetan Olympics torch relay is led by Miss Tibet 2006 Tsering Chungtak. read

    — Countering the Beijing Olympics slogan of "One World, One Dream", a torch relay held by Tibetans in Sydney will bring attention to the fact that Chinese-occupied Tibet is forbidden to enter the real event. read
